Designing an immersive learning podcast to simplify the vast mysteries of the solar system for elementary students.
Role
Instructional Designer & Production Director
Industry
EdTech
Duration
2 Months

Stage 1. Concept Development
Initiated the project by analyzing the cognitive learning needs of sixth-grade elementary students regarding the solar system. Conceptualized "A Flight Through the Space," an educational podcast designed to translate complex outer space phenomena into an engaging, age-appropriate audio drama. Developed the overarching narrative, educational script, and production timeline, ensuring strict alignment with pedagogical objectives while maintaining a captivating storyline.
Stage 2. Recording & Talent casting
Led the implementation phase by organizing professional recording sessions in a dedicated multimedia studio. Carefully directed the casting process to select specific voice talents whose vocal characteristics perfectly brought the story's personas to life. Guided the voice actors during the recording sessions to ensure their delivery captured the wonder of outer space while remaining clear and instructive for young listeners.

Stage 3. Audio Engineering
Directed the post-production and editing phase utilizing Audacity. Supervised the audio engineering process, which included cleaning vocal tracks, balancing levels, and integrating immersive sound effects (SFX) and atmospheric background music. Prioritized high-quality sound design to create a vibrant "theater of the mind" that holds students' attention and enhances cognitive retention.
Stage 4. Supervision
Conducted rigorous supervision and listening sessions with the project team to evaluate the audio drafts. Analyzed the pacing, character dynamics, and clarity of the educational content against the initial instructional objectives. Implemented strategic iterations based on team feedback to refine the narrative flow and maximize the media's educational impact.
Stage 5. Spotify Publication
Managed the final closing stage by mastering the audio file for digital distribution. Successfully launched the polished learning media product, publishing it exclusively as an educational podcast on Spotify. This milestone was achieved through the synergy of the entire production team, whose collaborative efforts resulted in a highly accessible and engaging auditory learning experience.

Reflections
Directing this project was a profound exercise in creative leadership and instructional design. It challenged me to harmonize creative storytelling, team management, and technical audio production. By guiding a talented team and overseeing the process from studio recording to Spotify publication, I significantly strengthened my project management and directorial skills. Ultimately, this experience reinforced my belief that when complex science is communicated through immersive media and a profound human touch, it has the power to spark lifelong intellectual curiosity.
